Our Story

The Master Chorale of Fargo Moorhead is committed to bringing the very finest in choral music performance to Fargo-Moorhead audiences. In addition to their intimate Christmas dinner concerts, the chorale performs an annual spring concert. Nursing home and regional concerts are also part of the chorale’s performance activity. The chorale has also performed with the FM Symphony and at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

A community chorale is formed

Under the direction of Lowell Larson an octet formed the nucleus of a community choir named The Master Chorale of Fargo Moorhead. Since then, an annual dinner concert, Christmas with the Master Chorale, has become a traditional favorite for many in the Fargo Moorhead area.

Carnegie Hall Performance

The Master Chorale of Fargo Moorhead performed a Prelude Concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City with Lowell Larson directing. The Chorale then joined several other choral groups to sing Ein deutsches Requiem, Op. 45 by Johannes Brahms on the same stage.

Lincoln Center Tribute Concert

Rene Clausen was the director of the Master Chorale of Fargo Moorhead when the Chorale accompanied him to New York City to perform his 9/11 tribute composition, Memorial. Alongside other choral groups from throughout the country, Master Chorale performed Memorial at Lincoln Center in Avery Fisher Hall on September 11, 2011.

National Anthem at the Minnesota Twins

We sang from center field just behind second base. It was exciting to be on the field and to sing in front of a large audience. The weather was perfect and the Twins won!
